The final frontier of North Vietnam is Ha Giang, is a legendary destination to many Vietnamese travelers. In recent years, the beauties of Ha Giang has been known to foreign tourists as well, making Ha Giang one of the most desired place of the north.

  1. Ha Giang Loop
The best, most beautiful and coolest thing you can do in Ha Giang is the Ha Giang loop. Not so much one place of interest, but several places of interest during this course. The most impressive are the Ma Pi Leng Pass, Quan Ba Pass, Sky trail, Tu San canyon etc. You can do this loop yourself by renting a motorbike in Ha Giang city or you can hire a motorbike with easyrider (who will drive you on the loop), however the best for tourist is hire a car (SUV) with driver - It's safe and comfortable. You will have more time to focus on the scenery, don't have to worry about dangerous on the road.

  2. Hoang Su Phi
Hoang Su Phi is one of the areas with the most beautiful rice fields in Vietnam. 3. Chieu Lau Thi peak
Chieu Lau Thi peak is the third highest mountain in Vietnam and the second highest mountain in Ha Giang, after Tay Con Linh. Unlike Fansipan, there is no cable car here that will take you up easily. The climb is tough and tiring, but you will be rewarded with a beautiful view. There are hardly any tourists, but if you are planning to climb this mountain it is recommended to go with a guide.

  4. Trekking through villages
With these local villages, forests and mountains with great views, Ha Giang is a very nice place for a trek. You will encounter few or no other tourists. The best trekking route for a long trek in Ha Giang during the rice season is from Nam Hong village to other villages such as Nam Son, Nam Khoa, Nam Ai etc. A nice trek also is to Khuoi My village on Tay Con Linh Peak of Tha village nearby Ha Giang city. If you start in the morning, you'll be there around noon and you'll have enough homestays to choose from for lunch.

  5. Quan Ba heaven gate - Quan Ba pass
Situated around 50 kilometers north of Ha Giang City, Quan Ba Heaven Gate is said to be one of the must-visit spots in Ha Giang Region. In 1939, the Frenchmen built up a wooden door there thickness of which is 150cm. Nowadays, tourist can't be able to see the door any more but just a sign on which the name is carved in Vietnamese and English.
With an elevation of 1,500 meters above the sea, Quan Ba Heaven Gate is the tallest point on the Quan Ba Pass. Due to the high location, it sometimes offers the amazing views of the sea of clouds or mist on the condition that the weather is not fine. Before reaching the Quan Ba Heaven Gate, you have to hike up for more than 100 steps. The gate features stunning views of Dong Van Plateau as well as the panoramic views of Tam Son Town in a silent valley. When you see the gorgeous views at the gate, you'll find it is worth climbing.
The Twin Mountains (Fairy Mountain) is one of the impressive highlights near the Tam Son Town. They look like the breasts of a woman who's just given birth to a baby. The two mountains stands close to each other. When it is in summer and autumn, the rice fields, houses at Tam Son Town, limestone peaks and the twin mountains always make for colorful views to appreciate.

  6. Conquering Ma Pi Leng Pass
This adventure is one of the top thing you have to do in your Ha Giang excursion. Without doing it, you,it is like something not complete in your Ha Giang trip. Ma Pi Leng Pass connects two remote frontier districts of Meo Vac & Dong Van, is the highest point of the “legendary happiness road”. Conquering this pass, you can understand how hard it was for local ethnic workers & volunteers to build up this part of “happiness road” without modern equipments, but by simple working tools of hammers & hoes, shovels…..and show your admiration to what they did before.A great sense of adventure you will have when zigzaging up & down along mountain slopes and be rewarded with the most breathtaking landscapes of magnificient mountains, deepest valleys and Nho Que river running between the cliffs. What a paradise on earth you may exclaim when standing on the top of this Ma Pi Leng Pass !

  7. Boating on Nho Que river - Tu san canyon
Unlike Ha Giang trekking tours, boating on Nho Que river - the Tu San canyon is a new destination for Ha Giang tours. It not only brings exciting experiences but it is also an extremely new place for tourists to love Ha Giang tourism. So, what it is?
Tu San canyon with Nho Que river is considered one of the deepest and most unique canyons in Vietnam. Originating from the mountainous area of Nghiem Son - Yunnan (China). The Nho Que River flows into Vietnam from the village of Seo Lung in Lung Cu Commune, Dong Van District, passes through the Tu San Canyon and runs along Ma Pi Leng Pass.

  8. Khau Vai Love Market

There are two things to talk about Meo Vac: Ma Pi Leng Pass and Khau Vai Love Market. Both are excellent examples of its kind – Ma Pi Leng yields to no other in its majestic beauty and Khau Vai is the most authentic love market that only happens once a year.

Held on 27th day of the third lunar calendar, Khau Vai Love Market is a festive event where the ethnic people celebrate love, meet their ex-lovers, potentials lovers and show affection. Ethnic people get dressed up for this event and turn the atmosphere very vibrant with the colorful costumes. It’s a great opportunity to travel to Ha Giang during this time.

  9. Local markets - (Dong Van market, Meo Vac market, Lung Phin market etc)

One of the must-do things to do in Ha Giang is to visit the local markets. In these markets in Ha Giang, the ethnic people, including Hmong, Tay, Nung and Hoa ethnic minorities stay true to their identity and tradition by dressing with their finest costumes to attend the weekly fair market. The event is a chance for local people to purchase their tribal goods, self-grown li, socialize, and eat good foods. It’s a very local, friendly atmosphere and you’ll find yourself enjoying the market in no time. So why not set your alarm and wake up earlier to join the one of the most important fair markets in North Vietnam? You won’t be disappointed.  The Meo Vac Sunday market is the largest market in the region, but other recommended markets are Dong Van market,  Lung Phin market and Sa Phin

  10. Conquer The Northernmost Point of Vietnam - Lung Cu Flagpole

Conquer The Northernmost Point of Vietnam - Lung Cu Flagpole

Lung Cu is one of the best known sights in Ha Giang and you can easily combine it with the Ha Giang loop. The Lung Cu  flag tower stands on Dragon Mountain (Long Son), in the northernmost tip of Vietnam, a few kilometers from the border with China. From the mountain you have a view over the rice fields, local villages of ethnic minorities and on the other side you can see China.
